Modern 2012 ASID Winning Project
By Jo Ann Alston
ASID award winning family room
Jo Ann Alston was honored by receiving an ASID award of design excellance for this space in 2004. This photo is part of a room that is 600 square feet. The charming draperies draw attention to the antique French canvas. A warm blend of fabrics and textures take a large space and make it functional, pretty, timeless and inviting. / ASID award winning family room
Historic Home Formal Living Room
Yards of luscious Scalamandre silk draperies with custom tie backs frame the cozy fireplace drawing attention to the antique English overmantle mirror. Two antique French bergere chairs invite you to sit and enjoy the warmth of the fire or just visit with friends / Historic Home Formal Living Room
French Country Kitchen
A new French Normandy kitchen was created for a client is Westfield NJ who owns an historically signifiacnt French Country home. With the help of a builder, architect and J. Stephens Interirs, the clients original home was expanded from a two bedroom home to a four bedroom home. This kitchen was part of the expansion. What I like about this space is that it is fresh, young and period appropriate. This shows you can create an interesting space in a kitchen where we all spend so much time! This kitchen was featured on the front cover of Design NJ. / French Country Kitchen
Modern living room with Japanese influence
Inspired by an antique Japanese screen and punctuated with a red leather coffeetable, this classically modern living room embodies balance and harmony. The walls are hand painted to resemble linen and are the perfect backdrop for the natural fibers that used exclusively in this room. On the floor is a linen carpet with a directional weave to further accentuate the width of the room. The sofa's clean lines are accented by the use a of plain bronze colored silk and further enchanced by bringing in silk emboirdery pillows. The depth of colot in the wood provides the grounding element in the room. The hand blown venetian glass table lamp mimics the color in the sofa. / Modern living room with Japanese influence
Transitional family room with modern influences
A cozy family room was created by installing a central chandelier to bring the height of the ceiling down. Addtionally the designer added a shelf for the homeowner to display his photography. Custom iron floor lamps and dramatic drapery treatments and woven shades add texture and warmth to the room. Even though the space is small, two seating areas were created. Wonderful leather fireside chairs beckon the owners to enjoy the beautiful fireplace and view to the outside while the family can enjoy the meida center in the other area of the room. / Transitional family room with modern influences
