About

Owner Melissa Andron started her company in 2000. Coupling her psychology background with her degree in interior design, she began working in healthcare design. After an illness that caused chemical sensitivities for her, Andron transitioned to work in sustainable, or "green" design. She currently is an active member of ASID, the US Greenbuilding Council, and Durham-Orange Counties Home Builders Assn/Green Homebuilders of the Triangle, and she has volunteered her time to Sustainable NC and to judging the annual NC Sustainable Design Competition. Andron's work has been published in several Triangle area publications. Andron will sit for the LEED exam in 2008.

Fee Structures

Realm Design Studio charges a $125 intitial consultation fee for residential work. This fee may be waived for commercial projects; please call or email us about this. We use this initial consultation as a "problem-solving" meeting to address the changes you hope to make and ways that we might meet your goals; our initial meeting frequently lasts up to two hours. (If you'd like a brief initial meeting in our office, this may be arranged with no fee.) After our first meeting, we charge $100/hour for design services and trade shopping/specification. We charge $60/hour for local/retail shopping.
