Cathleen's career began in the New York advertising industry where she worked for several noteworthy advertising agencies including Grey, Backer Spielvogel Bates, Ally & Gargano, and Saatchi & Saatchi. After managing multi-media campaigns for several Blue Chip advertising clients, she added to her professional accomplishments a Master’s Degree in Interior Architecture and Design at the world-renowned Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In 1998, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent several years working as a Designer at several prestigious design firms including Brayton and Hughes and Barbara Scavullo Design. Cathleen Gouveia Design was founded in Sausalito, CA in April, 2004. Cathleen Gouveia is an Allied Member of the ASID, and a Member of IIDA. She is presently working on the launch of a signature collection of home furnishings and accessories under a new line entitled, “La Maison Marin”. The hallmark of Cathleen’s style is a conceptual perspective that is unique to the history and vernacular of a building; and the rich personal history of each design client. Her work is often distinguished by elegant furnishings, a rich design palette, and a mix of natural textures. Having studied in Europe, Cathleen has established a cornucopia of unique design sources, artisans and suppliers. She invites her clients to collaborate during the design process, while offering the highest level of customer service and project management. In her free time, Cathleen may be found indulging her passion for travel, art, design, music and boating; as well as a love of the great outdoors. She divides her time between San Francisco, CA; Bay Head NJ; and East Hampton, NY.
