About
Alma Nugent, ASID, CID, is the founder and president of Nugent Designs, Inc., a full service interior design firm. She has a BFA degree in Interior Design from the New York School of Interior Design and New York Institute of Technology, a Masters degree in Technical and Industrial Education from New York University; is a Certified Interior Designer (CID), licensed by the State of New York, and a Registered Nurse. From 2003-2004, Alma served as president of the New York Metro Chapter of ASID, the only African-American to have had that honor, and continues to be a very active member in the chapter. She is presently a member of the board of the Education Legacy Foundation (ELF), which raises funds to provide scholarships for interior design students attending colleges in downstate New York. Alma believes that elegance is generally found in simplicity. Her design philosophy is to find the best design solution that will have the greatest impact on her clients in their living, working, or healing environments. Having had a successful career as a registered nurse, Alma combines her nursing and interior design experiences to create elegant and accessible environments, by modifying existing or new residences for seniors and for those with physical handicaps. She provides consultations to assess her clients' needs. Function, sustainability, accessibility, and esthetics are fundamental components of her designs, and she prides herself on being smart and savvy about how she spends her clients money.
Services Offered
Iinterior Design Consultation, Consultation on Home Accessibility Modification, Space Planning, AutoCad Drawings, Purchasing, Window treatments, Kitchen and Bath Design, Project Coordination/Management, Selection of Furniture and Furnishings, *We follow through to completion! We also offer interior design consultation services to clients who want guidance on how to approach their design projects, but are capable, and enjoy managing their projects themselves. Fee Structures
My firm accepts jobs in all budget ranges. Our fee structure depends on the size and scope of the project. Projects with a specific scope and time frame may be done on a fixed fee basis. Other projects may include a combination of the following fees: - Fixed fee for the design concept - Hourly fee for AutoCad drawings, selection of materials, shopping, budget preparation, project management - Cost plus for purchasing. Consultation is done on an hourly basis with a minimum of 2 hours. After a meeting between the client and the designer, and before any project is started, the designer prepares a proposal and presents it to the client for review, signature of acceptance, and an agreed upon retainer (a fee deposit). This would be followed by interviews, and consultations in order to develop the scope of the project and design concepts. Each project is unique, so please call us to discuss a fee structure for your project.
