Embarking on a new phase in his life, this client engaged our design team to apply our expertise during the new construction phase of his new three story town home.  We were able to make distinct design contributions during construction that also introduced real savings by determining effective use of all spaces, lighting fixtures, electrical and lighting plans, plumbing selections, tile work, cabinetry, floor coverings, A/V, and in some instances wall locations prior to completion.  Early design input often avoids having to rework existing construction down the road.
Seeking to take on a fresh, more personal look for his new home, we created a design aesthetic embracing elements of his Asian heritage through a modern language of materials and adaptable mood enhancing features.  All major finishes and lighting levels were forefront in the design concept.  Focus was given to the multi-layered lighting approach with user controlled dimming to accommodate  virtually any mood setting from book reading to entertaining.
Creating places for comfortable lounging while keeping the clean lines of a transitional aesthetic was accomplished many ways, including the commissioning of a custom sectional sofa.  With this important daily-use upholstery piece we were able to provide the longevity of quality structure, design the visual lines of the frame and still incorporate in the level of cushioning that was needed for a relaxing and enjoyable lounging experience.
Visual comfort was achieved with the use of a layered mix of textured materials.  Rich earthen toned hardwood floors provided visual contrast to the light woodwork and cabinetry.  Plush carpeting, while comfortable under foot, also aided in the acoustics of the town home.  Variegated granite tones brought depth of color, and durable functionality to the kitchen pairing nicely with new tile work, custom hand blown glass lighting and art glass accessories.
Integration of unique artwork throughout the home was something we worked closely on with the client.  Asian inspired elements were included in the art package paired with simple and modern accessories.  Custom Shoji-screen inspired ceiling mounted lights in several key areas of the home have a real presence, and bring focus to the nearby resin casting of original Chinese cave paintings from  the 14th C Tang Dynasty which depicts the rise of women into society at that time.
We collaborated with the client on everything including construction execution and punch work, space planning, lighting, finishes, furniture and accessory selection down to custom garage cabinets as well as bath linen collections. The design team was successful at artfully integrating and re-configuring some of his existing furniture pieces offering reductions in cost. We were also engaged to design a Christmas home decor package that complements the quality and look of the new home during the holidays.  Fully detailed, integrated designs truly stand out and enhance the quality of life when integrated throughout every aspect of this townhome.
