Loft Re-Design

The open living area of a loft condo re-design project

This converted loft was re-worked using mainly the client's existing furniture. In the living/dining area the custom-designed built-in was added for media, books and collectibles, and an energy-efficient light fixture was installed over the dining table. Look closely at the walls for a vertical grass cloth detail - grass cloth the same color as the walls was affixed in vertical panels from floor to ceiling. Wood finishing strips were added to finish the edges. The effect is to make the eye travel upward (something our client requested) and take in the height of the ceilings and overall verticality of the space by adding texture rather than objects.
In the small alcove in the loft's entry hall there was just enough room for a sleek console table and contemporary side chair. A soft blue blown-glass pendant fixture is centered on another of the floor-to-ceiling grass cloth wall detail. An enamel bowl on the table holds keys and other coming and going items.
