The Beginning: Soaring cathedral ceilings in a room flooded with light from arched windows and a view to the woods beyond.
The Concept: Refresh the dark, dated, brick fireplace; add much-needed architectural details for visual impact; create a cozy, welcoming style within this expanse of space. / An Expanse of Space
This project united two unique design styles... the clean lined metro style with the architectural detailing found in the craftsman style. A spa-like bathroom was created by using a soft blue-green color palette, custom cabinetry, and adding a custom, programmable, shower. / From Ordinary to Fabulous
The Beginning: A separate kitchen and family room often divided this family of four to separate living spaces.
The Concept: Remove the wall and create an open floor plan between the kitchen and family room. Connect the spaces visually with new architectural elements and colors. / A New Open Floor Plan
This space is truly a family room. The clients have two active, elementary-school-age boys; so they wanted a 'kid-friendly,' but also 'grown-up feeling' for their new space.
The family room is open to a craftsman inspired kitchen...thus we chose to continue with the craftsman detailing.
We defined the focal point in the space by adding arts-and-crafts-style cabinet doors to the existing bookshelves. Craftsman-style, handmade tiles surround the fireplace--mirroring the patterns in the clients' area rug. We also coordinated the room's warm and cozy color and fabric schemes with the rug. / A Contemporary Craftsman Family Room
