From Red to Rich
The client was unhappy with their dining room because it didn’t flow well with the rest of the home. It just didn’t fit in so they thought they might have to change all their furniture to achieve a look that would blend with the home.
The existing wall color was deep red and the color scheme for the Living room and foyer was very neutral, but the pieces were dramatic. They didn’t want a typical traditional look but wanted to add clean lines and unique artistic accents.
We changed the deep red dining room to the color scheme in the living room/foyer, but to add interest we added patterned wallpaper and carpet. We kept the buffet and table and added fully upholstered dining chairs in a more transitional design. The chairs in chenille added comfort and softness.
In the draperies, the side panel and cornices were done in a silk embroidered sheer fabric. We used preserved palms on either side of the buffet and hunted the markets for unique and artsy accents to complete the look.
The 2 lamps on the buffet are hand-made swirled clear glass with dangling prisms with a vintage antiqued fabric shade. They look beautiful at night or during the day.
