Tradition With A Twist

When working with a client, the first step is to understand who will be using the space and what it will be used for.  This project was for a couple transitioning from a family home with children to an adult home with grown children.  The design statement was “Tradition with a Twist.” By using classic pieces along with more transitional elements such as a contemporary gray houndstooth ottoman alongside a Queen Anne desk, the owner’s office reflects her love of tradition with an updated flair. While many living rooms are formal and unused, this space is a living part of the home where everyone plays the piano and two or three ukuleles are usually lying where the musician left them to answer the phone.  The lady of the house is a self-proclaimed “Princess of Pattern” who was not shy to make a statement with this bold Ralph Lauren striped sofa.  The apartment-sized sofa seats three comfortably with a down wrapped cushion for comfort and style.  When looking for a small accent table, one look out into the garden netted the perfect thing-a jade green garden stool!
