Real World Design Week

Chapter Expectations

To make RealWorld DesignWeek a true success, ASID will need the participation of many members nationwide—particularly the practitioners! ASID professional chapters are expected to locally promote RealWorld DesignWeek to their membership, with a primary focus on recruiting professional members, allied members and Industry Partner representatives to participate.

Marketing Brochures

In the months leading up to RealWorld DesignWeek chapters will receive numerous marketing tools to use at a local level. Printed brochures will be sent to each chapter for distribution at meetings and events.

Online Chapter Marketing Resources

Additional chapter marketing support materials will be available for chapters for download on the RealWorld DesignWeek Web site. These materials include:

  • articles and e-mail blasts—to be used in chapter communications
  • ads of varying sizes—to be used in chapter communications
  • graphic files—to be used in chapter communications
  • video montage, featuring professional photographs from RealWorld DesignWeek
  • marketing brochure PDF

Chapter Promotion of RealWorld DesignWeek—Key Players

The following chapter leaders have been identified to assist with local promotion:

President & President-Elect – Endorse program in appearances at all events and ensure that RealWorld DesignWeek promotion progress reports and discussions are added to board meeting agendas.

Communications Director – Market program in all possible venues using literature and graphic templates provided by ASID (chapter newsletter, chapter Web site, e-mail blasts, etc.).

Professional Development Director – Promote program to professionals at all events (chapter meetings, showhouses, CEUs, social functions, Career Day, etc.) and make sure that chapter events do not conflict with RealWorld DesignWeek

SRB – Promote program to all student members and faculty at student chapters. Ensure that student chapters are utilizing the RealWorld DesignWeek marketing materials that they are sent directly.

Chapter Administrators – Help distribute RealWorld DesignWeek marketing brochures to members via mail or distribution at chapter events. Work to match students with designers up until RWDW via the registration site and offline.

Student Chapters

Student chapters play an important role in promoting the program to student membership. In August of each year student chapters will receive:

  • a bundle of marketing brochures
  • a marketing poster to display on campus

Student chapters will also have access to all of the online chapter marketing resources listed above.

Measuring Progress

ASID headquarters will send chapters updates on registration numbers regularly and upon request.
