"In our media saturated times, I am grateful to be given an opportunity by the ASID to help future designers focus on design journalism and criticism during RealWorld DesignWeek. For me the stories of designers who solve complex problems stand out because they contribute to the great dialog of our time which is centered on climate change. In this context, beauty is a function of informed design decisions that consider the environment as well as the health, safety, and well-being of human beings. For this very reason, mentorship in sorting out how media connects practitioners to key ideas, to outlets for portfolio building, and to local jobs helps young designers discover the ways and means of public discourse on design, an exercise that will help them build their own careers."
