About
Dana Tydings has designed an extensive number of unique residential and corporate interiors. After its inception in 1996, Tydings Design Inc has rapidly grown and currently provides design services to clients in the Metropolitan Washington area and throughout the country. The firm has also worked on historical buildings, both individually and collaboratively with historical conservators and restoration firms. In addition, the firm has experience in the renovation of boutique hotels as well as redesign of medical facilities. Tydings Design's versatile projects have been photographed and published in several design publications. She is a frequent contributor to the Washington Post Local Living Section, has been featured in additional newspaper publications as well as on HGTV's "Restoring America". She has been labeled by the editor of a leading design magazine as "A designer to keep your eye on..."
Services Offered
Tydings Design interiors are distinguished by Dana's ability to seamlessly integrate design and function. Her projects feature an environment that combines a refined silhouette, luxurious color and innovative materials. As a designer, Dana Tydings’ primary consideration for her clients is functionality. “The most magnificent interiors are wasted on a non-functional design.” Light sources and architecture then guide her in the selection of the color palette and material placement. She blends both traditional and contemporary elements to create rooms that evoke an elegant classicism Interiors by Tydings Design maintain their beauty and excitement from one decade to the next. They are tangible evidence of our philosophy that great design is timeless and a reward for the senses. For more than 15 years, clients have recognized Dana Tydings and Tydings Design for its mastery of superb finishes, custom furnishings and luxury textiles in residential and commercial interiors.

Warrenton Breakfast Room
This was a cover photo from a feature on this residence in Washington Spaces Magazine. The custom hand painted floor cloth mimics pattern centered on each chair. Holly Hunt Bridle light fixture provides light and visual interest without obstructing the view of these Virginia mountains. / Warrenton Breakfast Room
Georgetown Penthouse
This contemporary living room of a waterfront penthouse in Georgetown overlooking the Key Bridge was also featured on the cover of Washington Spaces Magazine. A custom cut and colored area rug anchors the understated furniture. Pops of color are found in the accessories and the client's extensive art collection. / Georgetown Penthouse
Fairfax Famly Room
The use of paint helps define this room with high ceilings. Decorative painting mimics wall covering. Custom drapery and furniture in unexpected colors make this room pop. / Fairfax Famly Room
Bethesda Dining Room
The venetian plaster in this dark orange color bring depth and richness to this octagonal dining room. Unstructured silk drapery in dark colors lend a softness without overpowering the space. / Bethesda Dining Room
Warrenton Living Room
A soft color pallet and a variety of textures bring unity to this large living room. Lots of seating in various finishes create an elegant, yet comfortable space for entertaining. / Warrenton Living Room
