Construction on Louisiana ArtWorks, an artist workspace and cultural tourism destination, halted following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the resultant increased costs of construction and materials. Thanks to the $1 million donation provided by Shell, and other expected donations, the Louisiana ArtWorks facility could be completed by the end of 2007. Louisiana ArtWorks is designed to be a 93,000 square foot creative arts complex that will boast an attendance of over 125,000 visitors per year with a total annual economic impact of $73.90 million.
