Jerise Henson, ASID

Interior Design Journalist

Jerise "Ri" Henson is an Interior Design journalist based out of Los Angeles. After studying English and Journalism at the University of Maryland, and working in furniture and design stores to make ends meet, she realized her love of Interior Design and decided to study it further. She is currently a Certified Interior Decorator (CID) and a student member of American Society of Interior Design (ASID).

After working as a sales associate at Bombay Company and Pottery Barn, she realized that beautifully decorated interiors meant more to life than just something to look at. She began to read more books about the art of Interior Design and found a new appreciation for the art form. After seeing the lack of coverage for African Americans in the design field, she decided to make them and their projects the focus of her writing. She is currently a contributor at ymib.com, Black Interior Designers Showcase and Homes of Black Los Angeles, an independent newsletter distributed by Black for Black industries.
