In her 21 years as an interior designer, Karlene has developed a classic approach to mixing design elements ranging from historic to contemporary. She views the home as a sculpture, uniting and consolidating the details to create a cohesive whole. Karlene prides herself on asking questions that facilitate the design process and bring a project to a successful outcome. While listening to her client's answers, she also hears the underlying information. These unspoken clues enable her to create a plan uniquely suited to the client’s wants and needs. Karlene earned her B.A. in Interior Design from North Dakota State. She completed post-graduate work in Interior Design in Stuttgart, Germany. Karlene is a Senior Designer at The Design Studio of Gabberts in Edina, MN. Karlene's work has been featured in the Robb Report – Exceptional Vacation Properties. The Design Studio of Gabberts is a total service design firm, from initial concepts to final accessorization. Karlene can offer you trusted advice at every stage of the process — from concept development, space planning, working with your architect and/or builder specifying design details and surface materials, selecting the right product for your home, accessing a vast array of custom furnishings from around the world and adding finishing touches with window treatments, reupholstery services, carpeting, area rugs, accessories, lighting, fine art, wall coverings and special wall finishes. When you purchase product through Karlene from the vast assortment offered through The Design Studio of Gabberts, time spent selecting these items is complimentary. Gabberts carries over 125 furniture manufacturers plus numerous accessory, carpet,rugs and lighting vendors. Gabberts has accounts with the the Showrooms at International Market Square and numerous workrooms for custom window treatments, re-upholstery and specialty paint artisans. Time spent for specification purposes with your builder or architect is $125 hr. Gabberts has a professional delivery team and service technicians to insure your product is de-luxed and delivered to your home with the utmost care.

During this initial complimentary consultation, Karlene will listen carefully to your needs and map out what you could expect to complete your project. If you decide to hire Karlene, time spent selecting and ordering product through Gabberts, including the outside resources, is complimentary. Time spent specifying building materials and details with your architect and/or builder is billed at $125 an hour.
