About
Trained at the State University of New York in Graphic Arts I originally practiced as a professional illustrator with work published in Time-Life books. I entered the decorating business in 1978 as draftsman and assistant to New York Society Decorator William Turner and as showroom designer for Bernard Auffray of the venerable Auffray & Company. I trained under Turner and Auffray subsequently worked as draftsman/design assistant for Lorraine Schacht of the premier furniture and accessory company Lorin Marsh. My greatest experience was gained during my 10 year relationship with the owners of The Garden City Hotel -- Barbara and Myron Nelkin to whom I attribute my greatest training and design experience. In addition to working on the hotel, projects included a streamlined Art Moderne Beach House in Sagaponak, NY (Oliver Stones first choice for Wall Street but declined by the client) and as a partner of Designations a furniture and accessory showroom in New York's D & D Building. My experience in the design industry spans almost 30 years working on both coasts and supports my aesthetic and my approach to interior and architectural design. My work primarily involves high-end residential, restaurant and hospitality work. I have been published in numerous books and magazines including Architectural Digest, Kitchen and Bath Concepts and Southern Interiors. I was awarded first prize in the 1988 Schonbek Worldwide Lighting competition, judged by Architectural Digest for best use of crystal chandeliers in a residential setting. With over 30 years of experience and training by masters of the industry combined with continuing education and modern technology I create elegant and timeless architectural and interior designs --
Services Offered
We provide Interior Design and Architectural services from concept to completion. We merge these primary services on an as needed basis to supply our clients with a seamless design and working experience. Based on the client's needs we establish a point-of-view, prepare concept drawings and sketches, create renderings depicting custom furniture and built-ins, etc. etc. Approved concept drawings are developed into design intent drawings for client approval. Subsequent construction drawings and/or documents are prepared using computer aided design (CAD) technology or 3-D rendering techniques. Residential project presentations may include hand sketches and architectural wash renderings. Commercial projects such as office or restaurant layouts are submitted in booklet and/or PDF format and include all design details and specifications including floor and furniture plans, lighting plans, etc. etc. Construction calendars are published on-line for ease of transition during renovation of functioning office spaces. Power Point presentations are used for most commercial projects. All presentations include fabrics, fixtures, finishes, surface materials, antiques, art, accessories and lighting selections. We oversee all contractors, installers and tradespersons and count some of the most qualified and talented craftsman and artisans in our cadre of vendors and service providers. Services also include consultation to review your proposed architectural renovation or new construction plans. We have long established relationships with several licensed architects in the New York area for building or construction needs.

Fee Structures
Our projects usually encompass the full-scope of architectural interior design services from renovation of an existing property to new construction. Given the size and scope of a typical project our services are provided in a variety of ways which may include a fee structure for design development, commission on purchases or a combination of both. On a fee basis we work with your/our licensed engineers and architects to provide you with construction documents for renovation or new construction -- all work is performed by qualified, bonded, licensed and insured trade persons, contractors and installers.
