Interior Designer Lola Watson attended the University of Missouri, Columbia for her undergraduate degree in Interior Design and then added further course work in the School Of Architecture at Georgia Tech. She began her career in 1973 in the Design Studio at Rich's in downtown Atlanta, moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1976 where she worked for Interior Design Studio at the former Dayton's Department Store later joining the Design Studio of Gabbert's. Interrupting her design career to pursue a second passion, she sang professionally with the San Francisco Opera Company for a number of years as well as New York where she made her Carnegie Hall debut and has recorded in Europe. While in New York she returned to interior design joining E J Audi /Home of Stickley Fine Furniture working on projects in Westchester County, NY and Connecticutt. Having returned to the twin cities over nine years ago she rejoined the Design Studio at Gabberts and was then engaged as a senior designer at William Beson Interior Design. In 2003 she opened her own firm, Lola Watson Interior Design with offices at International Market Square. Projects include the greater Minneapolis/St Paul area as well as those in Wisconsin, Chicago, La Jolla and the Grand Cayman Islands. She has appeared on radio and television shows and been published both locally and nationally, and is a frequent contributor to trade magazines and as a winner of numerous design competitions, is often called upon to jury design awards.
