About
Educated in the beautiful state of Virginia, I hold a B.A. in Interior Design and a B.S. in Systems Engineering. I also hold a Certificate from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), am a Professional Member of ASID and am working toward state certification in New York. I worked for several prestigious commercial design firms in Virginia before moving to New York where I have operated my own design studio for over a decade. Areas of expertise include space planning for new construction or remodeling; design of kitchens, bathrooms, finished basements, custom cabinetry; selection and procurement of finishes, fixtures and furnishings; furniture plans; and custom window treatments. I have worked closely with architects and builders on past projects and have a network of professionals and tradespeople at my disposal to ensure your project runs smoothly from beginning to end.
Services Offered
I am prepared to assist you in every aspect of Interior Design whether you are building a new house, finishing your basement, remodeling your kitchen or commercial office space, or refurnishing you family room. Engaging the services of a qualified Interior Designer at the start of a project ensures that the flow, functionality and aesthetics of your new space will meet your design and budgetary needs. For new construction or additions, I will work closely with the architect (yours or one I recommend) from the beginning of the project to assess your needs and design floor plans that meet those needs. Preliminary furniture plans will be drawn so you can see how your new space will accommodate your new or existing furniture. I will prepare complete ceiling, electrical and lighting plans so you have outlets and light fixtures where you need them. I will guide you through all of the choices of flooring, cabinets, countertops, fixtures, wall finishes, and finally, furnishings and window treatments to give your new space the look and feel you desire. Also, I will visit your site during construction and installation to ensure that all of the design intentions are carried out to the smallest detail. On remodeling projects, I will listen to your ideas and design a space that works for you. I collaborate with a talented network of professionals and tradesmen so that any size job can be accommodated from moving interior walls for improved room flow to updating floor and wall finishes to purchasing new furnishings. Services provided include: Space planning for new construction, additions and remodeling Field measurements Kitchen and bath design Furniture plans Furniture design Custom cabinet design Furniture and fixture purchasing Finish selection and specification Custom rug design Electrical and lighting plans Specification of hard window treatments Soft window treatment design Fabric selection Color consultation

Fee Structures
When meeting a prospective client, I will ask for a tour of the project site, then sit down with you to discuss the goals of the project, the budget for the project, ask questions and generally get to know you. This takes about an hour and is complimentary. One of the topics we will discuss is the fee structure. Interior designers typically charge for services in one of three ways: Fixed fee Hourly rate Percentage of purchases I consider each job on an individual basis to determine which fee structure works best for the job and for the client. Sometimes a combination of fee structures suits the job best. Once we decide to work together, I ask you to sign a contract that describes the scope of the project, what services I will provide and what information I need from you, and what the fee will be. Laslty, I ask for a retainer of services. When these necessary business details are taken care of, the fun begins.
