Industry Partner Membership

The next and most important step for your membership is to get involved with your chapter! The success of your Industry Partner membership depends on your involvement in the chapter. As a new member, we also hope that you have had the opportunity to attend a few of the ASID chapter event this fall, if not be sure to catch one in the coming months. Some of the chapter events include lunch and learns, expos, seminars, and design forums. Attending the chapter meetings and events is a great way to start networking with interior designers and other Industry Partners, and is a crucial step in making your membership successful. As an Industry Partner you also have the opportunity to sponsor and host events.

Be sure to also look into advertising in the chapter newsletter, hosting an event at your store or showroom, sponsoring events and using the chapter mailing list to help connect with area designers.

Some helpful hints:   Make sure your company is listed in the chapter directories. Each chapter has a directory, some print and some digital. Make sure that your company’s contact information is current and correct.

Attend or host events. Chapter events are where networking begins. If you can, host an event at your store or showroom, if not, be sure to check your chapter calendar for interesting events where you can showcase your products and services and begin to create some buzz!

Advertise in the chapter newsletter or chapter Web site. Your chapter’s newsletter is a great place to advertise, you get a lot of exposure to your key audience. The best way to start marketing to our student membership is through contacting our student chapters.

• Host an event
• Open your showroom to student tours
• Hold a lunch and learn
• Attend a student career fair
• Provide unneeded samples to local schools
• Host a design contest for the students
• Give a presentation on your newest product

... and the list goes on and on!

While ASID does not "accredit" schools, we do have more than 325 schools with ASID student chapters. These schools meet or exceed the minimum requirements for both ASID membership and qualification for the NCIDQ exam (National Council for Interior Design Qualification). If you would like to have your logo featured, simply log in to ASID online using your log in and password located on your welcome e-mail, select "go to my ASID" on the left hand tool bar and then navigate to "Maintain your Company and Related Rep Profile" and follow the instructions below.

Uploading a Company Logo to www.asid.org

• Select Add/Update Image (all logos must be in .jpeg format)
• Select Add image
• Use the Browse button to find and open the correct image
• Select Upload
• ASID headquarter staff will review and approve all new images. Once approved, your image will be place in the logo rotator on www.asid.org. If image is not approved, you will receive an email with an explanation.
• Select Go Back to return to the main listing

In addition to the logo rotator, as an ASID Industry Partner you also have access to use the ASID Industry Partner logo for marketing purposes. The ASID Industry Partner logo allows you to promote your membership, as well as acts as a great indicator to designers of your commitment to the design industry. This logo can be used on print pieces such as business cards, advertisements and flyers, and also on digital pieces including your company website or promotional emails.

To access the ASID Industry Partner logo simply follows the above login instructions and then select "go to my ASID" from the left hand toolbar and select Industry Partner logos. There is selection of color and black and white images in both .jpg and .eps formats to choose and download.

As such, it is important that the logo be used according to the set guidelines and that it not be modified in any way. LinkedIn: A professional media networking tool used to help Industry Partners make better use of their professional network of peers by connecting virtually to get news, participate in group discussions, and continue to build their industry peer circle. To create a profile on LinkedIn go to their webpage, Linkedin.com. Once you have your profile, please visit the Industry Partner group and request to Join ASID's Industry Partner group.

Industry Partner Directory: A national directory of ASID Industry Partners including both company and representative contact information. The directory can be used to search the membership by company name, representative, state, chapter, or products and services.

Designer Referral Service: A searchable database of ASID designers, including individual designer profiles, complete with pictures of projects and descriptions of work.

Chapter Contact Information: A complete listing of all 48 ASID chapters’ contact information.

Events Calendar: A comprehensive events listing, including national/international design events and ASID chapter events.

ASID ICON Online: The Society’s bi-monthly magazine can be found online in digital format.  ASID ICON  presents editorial content on the leading industry issues, including sustainability, universal design, design specialties, business practices, and how to market and grow your business.

New Society Members: Listed by state, all new practitioner members can be found online. Be sure check out any new members in your area.

Job Bank: Have a job opening? Need an intern? The ASID Job Bank can be a great source for posting and finding jobs within the industry. Remember, all Industry Partners receive free internship postings.

Membership Self Service:  Login online to update your membership contact information. You can also access the ASID IP logo to use for your marketing needs. Industry Partner main representatives can login to update company information including, adding and deleting representatives, changing your company products and description, and uploading the company logo for the logo rotator, as well as paying membership dues.

NewsFlash: The Society’s bi-weekly electronic newsletter, featuring industry news, events, and educational information.

Knowledge Center: Gain access to professional interior design news, research and information on topics such as, sustainable design, business and technology, aging and accessibility and the design profession.

Below are a few key suggestions to keep in mind when considering any sponsorship for your organization.

Five Tips for a smooth sponsorship...

Sponsorships can be a key way of networking and marketing to the ASID community. With a great variety of sponsorships available on both the chapter and national level, you can use a sponsorship to meet top designers throughout the Society. When considering a sponsorship, keep these details in mind:

• Always use a contract. A contract will help both you and the event coordinator have a clear understanding of what is expected, the benefits of the sponsorship, and all financial terms.
• Entice your audience. Make a special offer available to event attendees, or offer drawing for a prize. This will help drive traffic to your table/booth and generate some excitement for your product or services.
• Practice your "elevator speech". Be able to clearly communicate exactly what you do and what you offer in 60 seconds or less. Practice the elevator speech with other employees staffing the booth and ask for feedback prior to the event. When speaking, pay close attention to your audience; know what they do and what they are looking for, so that you are able to speak directly to them. Body language can also say a lot, be aware of how you approach them, and keep a close eye on them; many times it will help you know when they have heard enough, or if they want to hear more. Most of all focus on the key value proposition that will help your business stand out from the crowd!
• Looks for events or sponsorship opportunities that go beyond the basic table or booth set-up. Make sure your sponsorship is being recognized in event brochures, websites, advertisements, etc.
• Be creative in your sponsorships, look beyond the usual events. Make proposals on sponsoring research projects, newsletters, educational sessions, or community projects that fit your company and help you stand out.

In addition to all the above tips, keep in mind there is no better way to get your name out to the Design community and be recognized than to Sponsor an ASID event. Our membership base is large and reaches Professional, Allied, Student and Industry members alike. The membership designations must be spelled out completely. (Note: "of the American Society of Interior Designers" may be substituted for "ASID"). No modification or deviation is permitted.

Violations of the ASID Code of Ethics for Industry Partner members are taken seriously and follow a process that may result in the situation being decided upon by the Industry Advisory Council.
