About
I have always had a talent for color and art. I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. I wanted to create three-dimensional spaces and decided to get a degree in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art/Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I enjoy working with people, and want to create spaces that makes them feel good when they are there. I am currently finishing my Masters at MSU in Environmental Design with an emphasis on sustainable interior spaces. I have taught drawing, art and interior design to adults at the Holland Area Arts Council in Holland, Michigan. I have been a memeber of HBA for over five years, and been working with a specific builder for over three years. I am currently working on obtaining my NCIDQ exam and fighting for Michigan to recognize the significance of the Interior Design Profession with passage of signigicant legislation. I have been a member of WMUSGBC, which means I am learning about the requirements of sustainable design and how to apply this in my practice. For two years, I have written articles in the local newspaper educating the public about the significance of working with an Interior Designer. Last year, I wrote an article published in a building magazine about current trends in design. I am also expecting to be published for the materisl I am currently working on for my thesis. I have been in business for over five years, and am continuing to learn and advocate the design profession. I realize the significance of using a designer so the client does not have to make major mistakes, can save time and money by the use of a knowledgeable professional designer.
Services Offered
As an Interior Design Consultant, I work toward solving the best design solution the client desires. I focus on listening the their needs and functions they desire with in the space. I am very creative in my approach, consider many options before I select what I think is the best one for the problem presented. Because of my "electic" character, I tend to use a variety of paint colors and unique, custom made built-in furniture for my solutions. I have a tendency to pay attention to details and believe that is what makes the space interesting and unique. In a 2004 Residential Parade, I won "People's Choice" award for two seperate locations. One was a private residence and another was for three models in a condo complex constructed by a builder in Grand Haven, Michigan. I have worked on many interior finish selections for remodels and new construction: floors, counters, walls, lighting, furniture and window treatments. I use AutoCAD for interior wall space planning creating new uses for the space (ie- making a master bath from a bedroom). I have created furniture layouts, kitchen and bath designs, as well as custom cabinets/ shelves/ and furniture pieces all using AutoCAD for construction drawings. I have created painted pictures for clients who want an "original" piece of art with certain colors already used in the space. I have created many unique, one-of-a-kind spaces with accessories I can purchase or create from dried weeds, articles from nature. I have created spaces that the homeowner enjoys and loves to live in.

Fee Structures
I offer to make a local, initial consultation for the first hour at no charge. I charge by the hour for services related to design, shopping, and travel (half the hourly fee for travel). I take projects of all sizes. I love both remodels and new construction. I enjoy residential and commercial design projects the most. I have had experience with contract design, so I sometimes use this influence in my design solutions.
