This project is a 3251 sq. ft. residence built for a family with three young, active boys. All materials and finishes were carefully selected not only to be pleasing to behold but also for their functionality. This young family loves entertaining family and friends. They will be many gatherings held in this home, birthday parties, holidays, wine club, etc., therefore all finishes were selected with durability in mind. The kitchen counter tops are granite, a strong surface that will stand up to daily use but which also has a beautiful, abstract, art like quality. The flooring in the mudroom/laundry room area is porcelain tile which has an authentic stone look, practical but warm and attractive. Flooring in the foyer, great room, kitchen and dinette is natural cherry, a wood that will stand up to use, can be refinished over time as it wears and provides warmth and natural beauty to the family's home. The unique, wrought iron powder room counter top was inspired by a magazine photo the family had saved. The wrought iron base with granite top appears to float off the wall. During construction the powder room walls were braced with extra support to secure the counter top treatment so there are no worries. The master bath was designed to provide a spa like retreat for Mom and Dad. Natural marble and glass tiles were used on the vertical surfaces and porcelain tile was specified for the flooring providing a luxurious atmosphere while minimizing maintenance. This family's building plans also included adding an in-ground swimming pool within view of the kitchen and dinette sitting area. Durable goods were specified for the dinette sitting area including a settee with indoor/outdoor fabric to stand up to sunlight and an occasional wet swimsuit. A wool, flat woven rug placed at the pool side patio doors has been backed with a non-skid rubber to secure it in place. Window treatment fabrics were inspired by the warm grey, earthy brown and golden tones of the exterior stone.  A gracious, family friendly home has been created where beauty and functionality coexist in harmony for a happy and healthy family to enjoy for many years to come.
