Sonya’s education includes a BFA in Interior Design from Marymount University, as well as a degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. Prior to choosing interior design as a full-time profession, she worked in the medical and clinical research fields for over a decade. The spectrum of her design experience includes working with high-end residential designers, Bloomingdale’s Design Studio, Pier 1 Imports, Techline Furniture and other accessory vendors. Sonya was raised in Western New York and has been living in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area for nearly twenty years. She believes the design resources, talent and inspirations in this area are unlimited. One of the most enjoyable aspects of her design work is responding to the individual – preferences, needs and design desires. As an Allied Member ASID, she is obliged to complete at least six credit hours of continuing interior design education every two years. She regularly participates in educational and interesting design events to consistently offer the best products and technology to her clients. She researches, reads and catalogs design inspirations, awaiting the individual client who will be inspired too.

Fee Structures

Fees for design services are based on an hourly rate. If the Designer is eligible for a vendor discount, a portion of the discount will be passed along to the Client. Currently cash or check payments are only accepted. In some cases, such as business concept design, a fixed fee may be applied to a project. The scope of work and deliverable items are outlined in each individual contract. If the Client has a small budget but big wish list, a common scenario, then Sonya can assist the Client in evaluating which renovations are most critical and may have the largest impact. She may provide a plan to phase renovations which can be carried out when feasible. Sonya is happy to work with you as much or as little as you feel her expertise is needed. If a project is started, then circumstances change the financial or feasibility outlook of completion, it can always be resumed at a later time. Good design is timeless.
