About
Sue began her career in the 70's with a Bachelor's degree in interior design and immediately moved to Hawaii to begin her career. She passed the NCIDQ qualifying exam worked in Honolulu, Kauai and now resides and works on the Big Island of Hawaii. Probably the most intense and useful training in design came from working for Richard Crowell Associates in the ‘80’s which included work on the Kapalua Bay Hotel and the Independence Cruise ship for American Hawaii Cruises. Sue's work has recently been published in Hawaiian Island Home, Hawaii Interiors, Hawaiian Style Magazine and the Honolulu Star Bulletin, Pacific Edge and over the years in numerous publications. She recently passed the LEED exam and is now a LEED Accredited Professional giving her the ability to coordinate LEED points for the US Green Building Council's LEED certification process for green buildings.
Services Offered
With over thirty years of interior design experience, Sue has worked on an extensive variety of interior design projects from commercial to residential interiors. She gained her hospitality design experience while working for Richard Crowell Associates in Honolulu creating interiors for cruise ships, hotel public areas, back of the house offices, guestrooms, and client offices. Sue’s company works with residential clients at some of the most exclusive communities on the island; Mauna Kea, Mauna Lani, Hualalai and Kukio as well as the island communities of Kohala, Waimea, and Kailua-Kona. Hospitality design clients include work for Hilton Waikoloa Resort, the Spa at Mauna Lani Resort and Mauna Kea Resort Real Estate offices. Stores for the Travel Trader Chain and even a sport fishing boat for a residential development on the Kona Coast of the Big Island
Awards
ASID Hawai'i chapter Awards: 2012 Award for single space: Make-A-Wish Bedroom for a teenager with Cancer;2012 Award for a Mid-Size Residence; a corperate retreat for Asian clients;, 2011 Award for a large beach house on the coast of Hawai'i Island, 2011 Award for a model home for D.R. Horton Developers, plus numerous awards previousto 2011.
Fee Structures
Trans-Pacific Design charges an hourly fee for design time and a cost plus basis for purchases. We work with our clients so that they understand all expected charges before and during their project.
