In 2006 Therese Virserius design was recognized by Hospitality Design Magazine as one of the Wave of the future designers. Therese Virserius was born and raised in Sweden. She graduated from the University of Stockholm with a degree in Chinese and shortly afterward accepted a management position in purchasing for IKEA in Shanghai. While living in China, she also started a company specializing in product and furniture design. In 2000 Therese moved to New York City and received a second degree in Interior Design from the highly regarded New York School of Interior Design where she graduated with highest honors. During this time she simultaneously worked for the renowned design firm Jeffrey Beers International specializing in hospitality and restaurant environments both in the United States and abroad. While working at JBI she was involved in many prominent projects. Therese left JBI in early 2004 to start her own firm. Some of her firm’s recent work has included the first of a chain of Wine Bars in NYC; a redesign of the Westin in FT Lauderdale as well as a new restaurant/lounge in Manhattan. In addition to hospitality projects she completed an 8,000 square foot private home on Cape Cod and a 10,000 square foot residence in Alpine, NJ.
