Paul F. Bloom, Allied ASID
Bloom Design LLC
New Haven, Connecticut
Project type:
Hospitality/Restaurant

About
Bloom Design prides itself in its technical strengths and broad overview of the field. Principal Paul Bloom's degree in architecture and many years as Senior Project Manager for custiom architectural woodwork houses has given him a broad and deep knowledge of custom interiors, and a wide overview of styles. How this translates into material reality is presented clearly in our portfolio.
Services Offered
Bloom Design LLC provides furniture and architectural interiors for residential and corporate clients. Our company prides itself on its responsiveness to client needs and develops projects around its core strengths in architectural woodwork and custom furniture. Principal designer Paul Bloom brings a modern sensibility to traditional craftsmanship. Bloom graduated from the Yale School of Architecture in 1970 under Charles Moore- a pioneer of post modernism- and is the third generation of his family to work in the building trades. Bloom's work can be found in residential interiors throughout Connecticut and Greater NYC. He has marketed his furniture at High Point and collaborated on furniture designs for Steelcase and Knoll as product designer for Warren Platner Associates. His numerous corporate and retail collaborations include: Windows on the World, Cisco Systems East Coast Headquarters, IBM Stamford, the offices of Carl Icahn and store fixtures for DKNY and Polo. Bloom's new Leah furniture line is a minamilist melding of art and function. As with all of Bloom Design LLC's work, it engages the landscapes of imagination- a wonderful process of discovery for client and designer. It is our experience that by starting with the particular design questions presented by the project and addressing them with meticulous attention to detail, a solution emerges in ways that are arresting and unexpected. Principal Designer Paul Bloom is a long-time zen meditator and Abbot of the New Haven Zen Center. He brings a quality of focus and "just this" to the firm's work.

Fee Structures
Bloom Design generates a project scope that is as clear as possible on the front end- both in budget dollars and product/services provided- so that there is no confusion as we proceed totether. We are happy to give a one hour no charge consult to clients with projects under consideration, from which we can generate a proposal, if appropriate to your project. Or we will charge a modest consulting fee after our initial meeting to provide sketch work and direction to more elaborate projects. We charge a flat fee for overall design development and presentation, and then an hourly and/or fixed line item price for product specification and project management. The determination of whether to structure billing around fixed line item pricing or at an hourly rate is made by the nature of the project at hand. Is the project primarily concerned with choosing product and finish to be managed by Bloom Design, or is it a consulting project? Scope: as the saying goes, "no project is too small." We are happy to help pick a sofa or oriental rug. We're good at that and have great sources. Our office stength is in Architectural Woodwork, custom furniture and full service design, and general project scope in dollars for those projects is $40,000-$300,000, which includes delivered product and material, installation and design fees.
