About
Trudy Dujardin, ASID has just received an Award of Merit from the Design Futures Council for her contribution for deeply motivational and inspired leadership for sustainable “green” design. The Award was presented to Ms. Dujardin at the Fifth Annual Design Futures Council Leadership Summit on Sustainability in October 2006 in Santa Fe, New Mexico where 100 delegates from around the world attended. The Design Futures Council is a global network of forward-thinking design professionals who take an active interest in exploring trends, changes and new opportunities in design, architecture, engineering and building technology. Ms. Dujardin was instrumental in originating and co-sponsoring the 1st Design Futures Council’s Architects Leadership Summit for Sustainable Design on Nantucket Island in 2002, where she lived for many years. It was at this first conference that the delegates formulated the “Nantucket Principles: A Policy Agenda for Architecture and Design Firms on Green and Sustainable Design”. Her motivation behind the event is her passion for green design and creating non-toxic environments. Nantucket, a location with a fragile ecosystem, was selected to symbolize the passion and need behind this kind of endeavor. Ms. Dujardin is a national authority on non-toxic building materials and indoor air quality and has been included as a pioneer in the newly released book on residential “green” design Sustainable Residential Interiors published by Wiley. She and her firm have been widely published and received numerous awards including two Connecticut ASID awards for her interior design. Her passion is saving the environment.
Services Offered
Trudy Dujardin, President of Dujardin Design Associates, Inc., is well known for creating classic, comfortable interiors that respond to the lifestyle and sensibility of her clients. A passionate believer in sustainable design and the preservation of the natural environment, Dujardin works to integrate the highest quality, non-toxic building materials with beautiful and timeless design. Recent Projects: Penthouse, NYC: This project involved the complete renovation of a pre-war apartment. Dujardin and her design team worked closely with the owner to incorporate architectural detailing true to the period and introduce new furnishings that would complement the owners’ eclectic collection of antiques. Nantucket Cottage: Dujardin’s renovation of a 1970 historic reproduction gambrel near town involved careful consideration of the character of the historic neighborhood and the sense of history that is Nantucket. The interior was transformed by opening up the space architecturally and bringing to life the “good bones” of the cottage with serene and soothing colors and furnishings. English-style Home, Osterville, MA: This project brought Dujardin in at the early stages, were she worked closely with the architect and builder to create a “dream home” for a newly retired couple. The traditional, Georgian-style home is classic, yet reflects the casual lifestyle of its waterfront setting.
