Fascination with her Dad’s custom furniture business inspired Ellie to pursue a career in interior design. After a formal education in New York, Ellie moved her young family to Palm Beach, Florida, where she honed her interior design skills while working for several different design firms. After settling in the Bay Area in 1986, her unwavering passion for beauty and harmony, coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit, provided the natural stepping-stones for opening Design 2 interiors. Now, with over 30 years of design experience,Ellie is an award-winning designer and active member of the Northern California Peninsula ASID chapter. She is a certified interior designer, having been one of the first California designers to meet state requirements. Always wanting to add knowledge to her craft, Ellie gladly participates in continuing education programs offered throughout the year. She is “big-hearted” and community-minded, generously participating in charity functions and events. Best of all, Ellie has an unwavering dedication to her clients. Most would wholeheartedly agree that her fine reputation has been built on hard work, attention to detail, and unparalleled personal service.

Design 2 is a full-service design studio serving the residential communities of the Bay Area. Each project we take on, large or small, aims to reflect the spirit, personality, and discerning lifestyles of our active, diverse, multicultural population. Design 2 president Ellie Berman, along with ASID staff designer Sandra Robinson, has completed over 350 projects in the Bay Area, addressing all areas of residential design. Our firm’s name is not synonymous with any particular period styling. Rather, the home’s architecture, along with the client’s taste and preferences, provide the guidelines for style choices. Our designers excel at working in all styles.... including traditional, transitional, contemporary, and eclectic. We are a budget-sensitive firm that pays utmost attention to client communication. Fee Structures

Design 2 offers a complimentary in-home initial consultation. Depending upon the nature and scope of the project, we structure our fee based on an hourly rate or a fixed fee, whichever is preferable and more cost-efficient for our client. Furniture and product purchases are itemized and price-quoted separately. We prepare up-front detailed written quotations for all purchases. As always, Design 2 is extremely sensitive to each client’s budget requirements. Our promise is to work diligently to maximize every design dollar our clients spend.
