ASID Foundation Announces $12k Scholarship
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 13, 2011) | The ASID Foundation announces the introduction of a new $12,000 student scholarship. Awarded biannually, the David Barrett Memorial Scholarship recognizes an outstanding undergraduate or graduate student’s work that demonstrates a continuing interest and ability in utilizing classical designs and traditional materials, inclusive of furniture and fabrics.
The scholarship is open to all full-time students in their junior or senior year of undergraduate or graduate study majoring in interior design at an accredited college or university. Both ASID members and nonmembers are encouraged to apply.
For entry, all applicants must submit a personal statement, letter of recommendation, prepared design portfolio featuring 8 -12 design components with a written description detailing how classical designs and traditional materials are used in each design component.

Transcripts and letters of recommendation can also be mailed to the ASID Foundation. All materials must be postmarked December 1, 2011.

Finalist and Winners: The ASID Foundation will review all submissions and a select winner based on the stated criteria. The decision of the jury process will be final. All entrants will be notified of their status by mail in January 2012. Award payment will be made directly to the student. Winners will be recognized publicly through a variety of print and electronic media. The ASID Foundation holds the right not to award the scholarship if no applicants meet the required criteria.
