ASID at NeoCon Attendance Jumps More Than 35 Percent for 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 1, 2010) | ASID at NeoCon, in partnership with the popular NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, attracted nearly 3,000 members of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to Chicago earlier this month. This level of ASID member participation is a first, representing an increase of about 1,000 (35 percent) members attending the conference and expo in 2010 compared to 2009. ASID at NeoCon is the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) national conference, held every June in Chicago in partnership with Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI.). Participants took part in networking events, educational seminars, forums and tours, and explored thousands of commercial and residential products for the interiors marketplace.
Designers unable to make the trip to Chicago took advantage of the ASID at NeoCon live blog at www.asidatneocon.com, which provided hundreds of pictures from events as they happened.
The conference had something for everyone, and packed events showed that designers were taking advantage of the offerings. The ASID keynote by Michael Graves, famed architect and designer, filled the auditorium. Celebration, the ASID awards ceremony, and FIRSTnight, ASID’s industry social event, were held at the same location this year and provided a winning combination as a diverse membership had a chance to network, celebrate and dance.
Interior design students had a lot to choose from, including a town hall forum and question-and-answer session with ASID Fellows about lessons they had learned during their careers. ASID also hosted a student career exchange that gave students the chance to speak with the top firms, organizations and industry professionals about their future while receiving feedback on their portfolios.
