WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 9, 2008) – American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) partners with Hospitality Design Group for conferences presented throughout the year, and HDBoutique 2008 is here. Four thousand plus designers, hoteliers, resort operators, architects and restaurateurs and more than 700 exhibitors will meet in Miami Sept. 16 – 18 to see the latest products, engage in action-focused seminars and enjoy lively networking events.
ASID is pleased to present the following educational session:
Guilt Free Luxury: Yes, Sustainability and Luxury Can Coexist
Is sustainable luxury an oxymoron? Can companies really take a triple-bottom-line approach and make it work in the luxury sector? Can hospitality design be both fashion-driven and sustainable? Luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive and designers are proving that every day. Through case studies, brand identities, and product previews, learn about the changing world of luxury, and how to incorporate sustainable initiatives into luxury hospitality projects. Kajsa Krause, native of Sweden and senior designer at Rockwell Group in New York City, with her colleague Elizabeth Sayner, leader of brand and customer experience innovation for clients such as Nobu, Marriott International, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Gap Inc. and Coca Cola will present the session.
Aside from the educational programming and walking the show floor, attendees will network at the Party by the Palms, meet tomorrow’s top designers at the Wave of the Future event, and participate in Hospitality Design magazine’s Green Day.

Sneak Peak at HD Expo 2009
Planning for HD Expo 2009 in Las Vegas May 13 – 16, 2008 is already underway. ASID and Hospitality Design magazine will promote the second annual Earth-Minded Awards (EMAs), the new ASID booth will be on display, ASID will be contributing to the educational sessions, and we’re pleased to announce a plenary session given by Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D., president, Universal Design Living Laboratory.
When Rosemarie Rossetti’s life was changed forever by a tragedy that paralyzed her from the waist down, she made it her mission to increase awareness the awareness and discussion of the home of the future. Rosemarie and her husband, Mark Leder, are building a national demonstration home and garden, the Universal Design Living Laboratory (www.udll.com) in metropolitan Columbus, Ohio. Rosemarie brings the discussion about marrying universal design, green building, healthy home and technology to the forefront of our minds. For HD Expo 2009, ASID, Hospitality Design and Rosemarie are working together to develop a new program that shines a light on the hospitality industry, fueled by research on universal design, trends in the hospitality industry and Rosemarie’s personal experiences (including lots of real life photos and illustrations) and accounts of her world travel.
