An empty nest couple wanted a kitchen that was central to the open floor plan of their new architect designed home on the waterfront. He is the cook and she is the clean-up crew. The kitchen needed to be open to their friends and family for their busy entertaining lifestyle.
Under the soaring ceiling I separated the cooking zone from the scullery side providing plenty of room for each partner. The double wide center island avails both sides plenty of room for prepping, staging and clean up. Deep drawer bases offer generous storage space on both sides of the island.
Luxurious lacquer, stainless steel and natural stone blend to complement the warm cherry panels of the interior walls. Elements of Indian slate used throughout the house come into the kitchen on the peninsula and tie the space together with the dining and living rooms.
The result is a functional kitchen that makes for a happy marriage.
