This home, located in Fishers, Indiana, had not seen an update since the homeowners moved in, in 1981. It was a very closed off space with a dated vinyl floor, laminate counters, 30 year old appliances and bulkheads.
We really opened up the space by eliminating the bulkheads, doing away with cabinets that hung down from the ceiling and divided the kitchen and dining space. We got rid of the vinyl
and laminate and put in upgraded materials such as porcelain tile floor and granite counters. We did a backsplash that looks like natural stone, but is porcelain to avoid maintenance. Custom cabinets that had the rich tones prevalent in other parts of the home were installed. A lighter color was chosen for the floors, walls and counters to still give a light and open feeling. We also added recessed lighting and under cabinet lighting to the space to help make it brighter.
