Leading and Collaborating with Others

Most successful business owners actually lead people more than they manage them. In the old days, the word "managing" meant giving commands and controlling activity. In the new age, leadership attracts "followership." Everyone is encouraged, informed and equipped to participate, make suggestions and contribute for the good of the enterprise.

Leadership requires vision, clarity of purpose and communication. "Followership" happens when that vision and purpose are manifest in each employee. As a leader, does everyone in your organization understand your vision? Does everyone represent the essence of the brand? Are the expectations of the brand clear to everyone, and does everyone behave accordingly?
