Richly colored traditional dining room dressed for the holidays. Inspiration for the color scheme is a 19th C. English oil portrait. Furnishings include eight mouton sidechairs with original tapestry upholstery around a cherry Queen Anne style dining table. Other furnishings included a dark pine Southern huntboard, a 19th c. American walnut wardrobe serving as a blind china, Bokhara rug, and other antique accessories.
Custom whitewashed pine bookcases, an heirloom cherry high poster bed, and a pair of small scale slipcovered armschairs are the main furnishings in this comfortable bedroom. Old black and white illustrations from a 1911 fairy tale book were the inspiration for a subtle theme, a calm color scheme, and whimsical play of textures. Antique accessories... toys, games, and art... are featured. A variety of pillows, bed linens, and accents is rotated throughout the year to suit the season.
Dupioni silk upholstered wall panels are featured in this formal dining room. Reproduction furnishings include 18th c. style double pedestal banded mahogany banquet table. Regency style side chairs flank each side and leather and damask covered dining settees sit at the head and foot.
The lovely matte metallic gold faux finishing technique creates a soft damask pattern on the walls of this master bedroom giving the look of a fine silk wallcovering. A flat screen TV over the mantle is disquised as an oil painting. Bedside controls raise and lower the canvas.
