Glass/Honey onyx pencil tiles were turned horizontally and vertically to give a bamboo feeling and add another texture across the face of the tub and back splash areas. Thassos marble and vertically positioned glass/honey onyx pencil tiles were used in the shower to give the small shower a larger presence. The robin added to the mural in honor of my clients deceased son, brings them comfort and joy while they relax in their tub.
Problem: Large empty floor space where new island currently is. The perimeter cabinets were white with white tile. Clients wanted warmth and darker tones. Solution: Designed a Enkeboll trim cornice and applied to top of existing perimeter cabinetry. This gave it a custom look and more presence. Finished in a deep burgundy with a black glaze. The large island was built in cherry with a walnut finish, topped with warm toned granite slabs. Designed to house a beverage and wine refrigerator, recycling, and lots of storage. Raised island for clients friends to view the two chefs in action with metal inserts applied to legs and back splashes to add another element of interest and texture. A built in booth to right of island was added, with custom dining table to accommodate additional guests.
Client wanted a Zen, relaxed area to enjoy her baths. Solution: A monochromatic color scheme using warm, yellow gold colors, bamboo looking plumbing fixtures and a bamboo mural were created with the Zen theme in mind. Top of the line plumbing fixtures; aero massage tub, body sprays, and rain shower head for the shower, and wash let toilet were purchased to enable my clients to relax in style. Not complete without heated Jerusalem Gold limestone floors with Thassos marble inserts and a heated towel bar. Recessed Robern mirrors were added for additional storage. Custom cabinet was designed with legs and finished using the same goldish tones as the walls and floor for harmony.
Problems: Gray Concrete fireplace, no mantle, white walls, no personality. Solution: Added a blue color to the walls, which mimics the blue sky visible from the floor to ceiling windows on the opposite wall. Added Jerusalem gold limestone tiles with honey onyx inserts over the concrete to add warmth. Added deep mantle to house accessories and recycled teak shelves and replaced with paint grade to match ceiling detail and mantle. Installed a textured wool carpet in warm gold tones, new transitional furnishings with a lot of textured/patterned accessories to pull the space together and provide badly needed, comfortable seating.
Beams with white wash tongue and groove larch for the ceiling. The flooring is 5" white oak knotty planks, finished to look like raw wood. I had them use a natural, eco friendly Bona finish, which means the home owner will never have to have their floors refinished again!! To accommodate large groups I had a custom built dining table made out of a 3" thick slab of reclaimed fir, with white wash trestle legs. Due to the tight space I designed a pop out window seat, which provides seating for 4-5 people. Topped off with colorful pillows and cushions, it adds the needed punch of color against the 6" tongue and groove, white horizontal panelling I had applied to the walls to make the room appear larger and light. To add a punch of color, a red island with black glaze finish was installed, complete with a chiseled edge, honed slab of granite on top.
