West Hollywood Historic Apartment
This apartment was done in the summer of 2007. The Granville is an historic 1920's highrise with magnificent details such as pillared porticos, French doors and coffered ceilings. It was great fun to design with a complimentray color scheme of reds and greens with pops of orange over a light ochre yellow background. The pieces are a mix of antiques and reproductions mixed with Chinese casegoods, French clocks, and gilt bronze candlesticks. One is greeted by 'Percy', the large Italian majolica leopard in the foyer atop a Tibetan chest. The large leather ottoman by Vicente Wolf brings a casual flair, which is used for both extra seating and as a drinks table with trays. The dining nooks silk covered table is surrounded by Louis XVI style gilt stamped leather in off white paint, and the trumeau is Empire period with a faux mahogany finsih and gilt figures depicting Eros in his chariot pulled by Psyche's butterflies. The Parish Hadley four poster in black and gold is the focal point of the master suite made with simple Frette hotel linens and set off by burgundy silk taffeta drapes and a vintage hand-knotted Iranian carpet. The apartment is smallish but feels larger with high ceilings and elegant detailing in the architecture.
