Cathy Austin, ASID is best known for her curated and colorful style that blends her love of art with a playful approach to design. She specializes in high end residential design working with collectors to design their interiors around their works of art.
Cathy began her creative career at Sotheby’s in New York acquiring extensive knowledge of the fine and decorative arts. This invaluable experience trained her eye in line, form and proportion through cataloging countless works of art and antiques, learning from the experts, and arranging pre-sale auction exhibitions. After obtaining her Interior Design degree from the American College for The Applied Arts, she worked for some of the country’s most distinguished designers including Dan Carithers, Jackye Lanham, Cindy Smith and Jane Schwab of Circa Interiors & Antiques. She opened her boutique design firm in 2002.
In addition to her design practice, Cathy has served as the Interiors Editor for Peachy Magazine, and has participated as ambassador for the La Cienega Design Quarter's Legends event, as a sponsored blogger for High Point Market and as a trend spotter for AmericasMart Atlanta Market. She was recently named a finalist for the ADAC’s Southeast Designer of the Year competition. Her work has been featured in print and online publications including Traditional Home, Charlotte Home & Garden, Charlotte Urban Home, QC Exclusive, Charleston Post and Courier, Birmingham Home & Garden, Style Blueprint, Elle Décor, and Dering Hall. Her blog Bespoke Banter chronicles her interior inspirations and design adventures.
