Real World Design Week
After seven successful years, ASID is making significant changes to the Real World Design Week program. Launched in 2008, Real World Design Week has connected thousands of student members to practitioners and has cultivated numerous professional relationships. The Society is proud of the program’s tradition of connecting rising designers with those who have experience, expertise, and influence.
To keep up with the changing interior design profession, ASID must update its programs to maintain their relevance and importance to our members. As a result, ASID will transition Real World Design Week into a program that supports year-round mentorship for all career stages.
Throughout the program’s history, ASID has provided multiple registration platforms to help match students to practitioners and has tried various iterations of shadow day events and ways to engage those looking for a personalized mentor relationship. In 2016, ASID will launch an evolved mentor program with the goal of connecting designers from all career stages. While ASID will not host a registration platform in 2015, we encourage you to continue to promote mentorship in your area through events that suit your region. Some examples include:
