Real World Design Week

Real World Design Week

Real World Design Week is a national mentoring program that offers interior design students unparalleled hands-on and online learning experiences. This rewarding program has created lasting relationships, connecting students with professionals making a difference in the design industry.

Close to 800 members participated this year in Real World Design Week (RWDW), either by hosting or attending a shadow day event. Interior design students connected with professionals and toured their offices, listened in on client meetings and developed a better understanding of what the industry looks like on a daily basis. While ASID will not host a registration platform in 2015, we encourage you to continue to promote mentorship in your area through events like those suggested below:

  • Organize a group shadow day event (multiple students shadow multiple designers for a tour or site visit).
  • Invite alumni to visit campus to share lessons learned.
  • Invite local students to attend a chapter meeting followed by a social event.
  • At the student chapter level, arrange for upperclassmen and freshmen to meet regularly.
  • Host a resume review session with local ASID practitioners and Industry Partners.

If you have questions about the program, including how you can get involved, please email rwdw@asid.orgThis program is open exclusively to ASID members. Learn more about ASID membership.
