Jim Brewer
Vice President, Government and Public Affairs

Jim Brewer is the Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for ASID. In this role, he is responsible for formulating and executing the lobbying and grassroots campaigns that focus on passing or defeating public policies affecting interior designers at all levels of government.

Brewer has been in government affairs for the last 11 years, lobbying for 10 of them with a combination of experience in state legislatures as well as the U.S. Congress. During this time, he has delivered signature legislative and regulatory victories on behalf of those entities employing him, namely those in the construction and health care sectors.

He has authored numerous pieces of legislation that have been signed into law by both the President and multiple governors. Notable ones include securing $61 million for the painting of the U.S. Capitol Dome's exterior, guaranteeing skilled workforce training programs are required on projects to repair our nation's infrastructure, and securing state certification of businesses seeking to operate as home care agencies. He also played an integral role in an effort to reduce a burdensome federal tax on investment which created thousands of jobs in the design and construction industry and spurred billions in investment for the improvement of commercial real estate properties.

Brewer is a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and native North Carolinian. When not walking the halls of state capitals or Congress, he enjoys cheering on the Tar Heels in any sport and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
