Description
The Austin Design Community has partnered with The Salvation Army of Austin on their Rathgeber Center, a 230 bed shelter and will be a safe-haven for families in Travis and Williamson counties experiencing homelessness. On average, The Salvation Army has nearly 300 women and children on their wait list for shelter at the Austin Shelter for Women and Children.
In this collaborative volunteer effort involving multiple vendors, the Austin Design Community has been the Lead Partner, helping to finish out the 24,000 SF phase one of the facility, and the two-month long process is coming to an end.
Please join your fellow members for the Ribbon Cutting, Dedication Service, Grand Opening and Tour. Friends, family, and the community are all welcome to join The Salvation Army Austin to open "Some Place New." The Ribbon Cutting will start at 9:00 AM, followed by the Dedication Service at 9:30 AM, with the Tour and refreshments to follow.
There are several opportunities to get involved by donating, volunteering and room sponsorships. Contact Austin ASID DC Chair, Cody Rackley, Allied ASID: crackley@tbfurniture.com. Please RSVP to AustinDevelopment@uss.salvationarmy.org if planning to attend.
