March Chapter Meeting 

You Ask, We Answer! A Health, Wellness, and Sustainability Round Table

Tuesday is the new Wednesday this March as HW&S partners with the Chapter Meeting. Join us live & in-person for a Q&A with experts, practitioners, and industry partners on the ever-changing landscape of best practices for health, wellness, and sustainability.

A group of experts, practitioners, and industry partners will address how to broach these topics with clients, share ways to make better material choices, explore whether there is an “up charge” to sustainability, and most importantly, dive into how design professionals can create the most positive impact.

Driven by your questions, this lively discussion will explore how to design healthy and safe environments to best serve your clients’ needs.

Space is limited to 40 attendees! A $25.00 fee will be assessed to all no-shows and anyone who fails to cancel within 24 hours of the event. We appreciate your understanding. 

About the Experts

Phoebe Beachner, Allied ASID, MPS, LEED Green Associate, Associate IIDA  Phoebe is an interior designer for Hart Howerton New York and received her Master of Professional Studies in Sustainable Interior Environments from the New York School of Interior Design. She is a recipient of the IIDA Sustainable Design Education Fund and a panelist on the IIDA Future of Design Roundtable. She is currently the NEWH NY Chapter Green Voice Committee Chair, a member of ASID NY Metro’s Events Committee, a member of the ASID Advocate by Design Council, and a Practicing Member of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.

Dorothy Handelman is the New York Metro Architectural Sales Rep for ASID NY Metro Industry Partner, IceStone USA, a sustainably and responsibly made countertop material produced locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. She is a member of the ASID NY Metro Health, Wellness & Sustainability Committee.

Maria Lomanto, Allied ASID, Living Future Ambassador, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, Healthy Materials Advocate. Maria is an ASID Design Excellence Award winner and the founding principal of DesignGLXY LLC, an interior design firm dedicated to Health, Wellness + Sustainability in the built environment.  She is co-chair of the Health, Wellness + Sustainability Committee of ASID NY Metro, is a member of the national ASID Advocate by Design Council and a co-founder of the Alliance for Healthy Design.

Monserrat Menendez, ASID Industry Partner, MPA, ICAA

After receiving an MPS in Sustainable Interior Environments from the New York School of Interior Design, Menendez went on to hold several key roles in the industry and is currently an interior designer at Poggenpohl New York. There she involves clients towards sustainability from two perspectives, the brand’s products and its business operations and relationships. Menendez is also the newest member of the ASID NY Metro’s Health, Wellness, and Sustainability Committee.

Giselle Ulmo, Allied ASID / WELL AP / WELL Faculty / Healthy Materials Advocate  Ulmo is co-chair of ASID NY Metro’s Health, Wellness + Sustainability Committee and a co-founder of the Alliance for Healthy Design. Giselle developed her interior design practice Giselle Ulmo Design, focusing on purpose and wellbeing so her clients can feel their best. Giselle is passionate about advocating for and teaching the benefits of healthier built environments and sustainable practices.
