One of the missions of ASID is to demonstrate how Design Impact Lives. It is with this mission in mind we are inviting restaurant owners, managers and staff to join our members to learn best practices and available resources for reopening in the new normal.

 

The presentation will be followed by a roundtable discussion between ASID Members and attendees to share ideas, to keep our community thriving and safe.

Tamburro Interiors, LLC is a full-service Interior Design firm specializing in the development of singular concepts for the Retail, Food Service, and Hospitality industries as well as Residential Interior Design with a strong focus on Sustainability. With more than 30 years of experience in the Interior Design, Retail, and Food Service industries, Ms. Tamburro brings a unique perspective to each project with both Front-of-House and Back-of-House experience having worked as a Hospitality and Residential Interior Designer, Director of Design, Educator, Store Manager, Showroom Assistant, Sales Associate, Server, and Hostess to better serve her clients.
 

Ms. Tamburro brings exceptional insight into understanding what makes a restaurant, store, or hotel guest-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, yet cost effective to build. As a LEED Accredited Professional, her extensive knowledge of and passion for Sustainable Interior Design and business practices are valuable assets to her clients. Ms. Tamburro's residential clients appreciate her ability to provide comprehensive design schemes that enhance their personal taste, creating spaces that are polished and livable.


Education and Leadership have been a core tenets throughout Ms. Tamburro's career, evidenced by receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from CIDA Accredited Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, membership in the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) from Student through Professional Membership, passage of the NCIDQ Exam, becoming a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) and later a Certified Interior Design + Construction specialty designated Interior Designer. Ms. Tamburro has been active in ASID since her student days including serving on numerous committees, serving on the DC Metro Chapter of ASID Board, serving as President of the DC Metro Chapter in 2010-2011, and receiving the prestigious Milo Hoots Jr. Award which honors an individual who has made outstanding leadership contributions to ASID, and who demonstrates exemplary dedication to the Society and, to the Chapter.

SHARON KUESTER, ASID, LEED, AP

 

Principal, Austin Kuester, Inc.

Sharon Kuester has been involved in the field of food service and retail design for over 40 years. As a founding partner of Austin Kuester, she has been instrumental in establishing the firm's national reputation for design excellence. Sharon is an active member of ASID (American Society of Interior Design), serving on the Board of Directors of the Washington Metro Chapter and was awarded ASID's prestigious Design of Distinction in 2000. As an academician, she served as the Regional Chairperson for USA and Canada for IDEC (Interior Design Educator's Council).

 

Prior to founding the firm of Austin Kuester, Ms. Kuester was Chairperson of the Interior Design Program at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C. As a young woman, Sharon was first female faculty member appointed to the College of Architecture at King Faisal University in Damman, Saudi Arabia, where she spent three remarkable years immersed in Middle Eastern culture and design.
 

Sharon's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Psychology from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Science in Human Shelter and Design from Michigan State University. Other educational credentials include the successful completion of the NCIDQ (National Council of Interior Design Qualification) exam and the LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) exam.  


Eileen Vitelli is an Operations Management consultant to architecture and interior design firms. Her focus is on internal firm operations and process management: developing and documenting processes that ensure strong project management and a framework for design teams to execute successful designs. She also supports business development, cultivation of positive client relationships, human resources, and onboarding and training of new staff.
 

Eileen is an interior designer by training, with 20 years of experience designing for theatre, hotels, retail stores, restaurants, and high-end diplomatic residences. During her early career, she studied set and props design, then designed for several theater companies in DC. More recently she specialized in hotel design; working with hotel owners, general contractors, and other design professionals to create comfortable and functional spaces for travelers.
 

As a mid-career interior designer and member of the Washington Metro Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Eileen enjoys helping younger designers as they enter the profession. She individually mentors interior design students in their early careers, and speaks about interview preparation, resumes and other topics on industry panels. She is licensed in DC and holds an NCIDQ Certificate.
