A simpler, more consistent membership renewal experience 

Beginning October 1, 2026, ASID will move to one annual membership cycle running October 1 through September 30. 

Today, members renew throughout the year based on their individual membership dates. Moving to one shared annual cycle will create a simpler, more consistent, and more predictable membership experience. 

Because members currently have different membership terms, your transition will be personalized based on your current membership. 

Your renewal communication will explain the specific information that applies to you, including your renewal amount, membership period, and next renewal date. 

What Does This Change Mean for Me? 

What is changing? 

Beginning October 1, 2026, ASID memberships will move from individual anniversary renewal dates to one annual membership cycle running October 1 through September 30. 
Going forward, members will follow the same annual membership calendar. 

When does the new membership cycle begin? 

The new ASID membership year begins October 1, 2026, and runs through September 30, 2027. 
Renewal communications will begin in September 2026. 

What does this mean for my current membership? 

Your membership will transition from your current membership term to the new October 1-September 30 annual cycle. 
Because members currently have different membership dates, your transition will be personalized based on your current membership term. 
Your renewal communication will provide the specific information that applies to you. 

Do I need to do anything? 

When you receive your renewal communication, you will be asked to log in and complete your renewal online. 
Your renewal information will provide the details you need to complete the process, including your personalized renewal amount and available payment options. 

How Will My Dues Change? 

Will I have to pay twice? 

No. You will not be charged twice for the same membership period. 
During the transition, your renewal amount will be determined based on your current membership term and the amount of membership time needed to align you with the new October 1–September 30 annual cycle. 
Your personalized renewal communication will explain your specific amount and membership period. 

Will my membership dues increase because of this change? 

No. Moving to the new annual membership cycle does not increase ASID membership dues. 
Your transition renewal amount may differ from your regular annual dues because your membership is being aligned with the new October 1–September 30 membership cycle. 
Any transition adjustment is related to the change in membership timing—not an increase in your annual membership dues. 

Why is my renewal amount different from my regular annual dues? 

Because your current membership term may not align with the new October 1-September 30 membership year. 
During the transition, your renewal amount may be adjusted based on your current membership term. 
Your personalized renewal communication will show your specific renewal amount and explain the membership period it covers. 

What does "prorated" mean? 

Prorated means that a membership amount is adjusted based on the amount of membership time needed during the transition to align your membership with the new October 1-September 30 annual cycle. 
Not every member will have the same transition experience. 
Your personalized renewal communication will explain what applies to you. 

How is my transition renewal amount calculated? 

Your transition renewal amount is based on your current membership term and the amount of time needed to align your membership with the new annual cycle. 
Because members have different current membership dates, individual transition amounts may vary. 
You do not need to calculate your transition amount yourself. 
Your personalized renewal communication will provide your specific amount. 

When will I know how much I owe? 

Renewal communications will be sent beginning in September. Your renewal communication will include your personalized renewal information. 
You will be able to review your renewal amount and membership information before completing your renewal. 

What If I Recently Renewed? 

I recently renewed. Why am I receiving another renewal communication? 

ASID is moving all members to the same October 1–September 30 annual membership cycle. 
Because members currently have different membership terms, some members may receive a renewal communication during the transition even if they recently renewed. 
Your renewal communication will explain your specific transition, including your membership period, prorated renewal amount (if applicable), and next renewal date. 
You will not be charged twice for the same membership period. 

I recently renewed. Will I have to pay again? 

Your transition will be based on your current membership term. 
Your personalized renewal communication will explain whether a payment is required and, if applicable, the amount due. 
You will not be charged twice for the same membership period. 

Why is my transition different from another member's? 

Members are transitioning from different membership terms and renewal dates. 
As a result, individual renewal amounts and membership timing may differ during the transition. 
Your personalized renewal communication reflects your individual membership information. 

What Happens to My Membership? 

Will I lose any membership time? 

No. You will not lose membership time you have already paid for as a result of the transition. 
Your membership will be aligned with the new annual cycle based on your current membership term. 

Will I lose any member benefits? 

No. Your ASID membership benefits will remain unchanged. 
Your chapter affiliation, access to member resources, programs, services, and other membership benefits will continue. 

Will my chapter affiliation change? 

No. Your chapter affiliation will remain unchanged. 

Will ASID membership benefits change? 

The transition changes when and how your membership renews, not the value of your membership. 
Your existing membership benefits, chapter affiliation, programs, services, and access to member resources will remain unchanged. 

Does the new membership cycle affect CEU reporting? 

No.  The membership cycle and CEU reporting period are separate. 
The CEU reporting period will continue to follow the established biennial calendar-year cycle, with CEUs due by December 31 of the applicable reporting year. 
Changing the membership renewal cycle to October 1–September 30 does not change CEU reporting requirements. 

What Happens to My Payment Options? 

Can I pay my annual dues in full? 

Yes. Beginning with the new membership year, members may pay their annual dues in full with one payment. 

Can I pay my dues monthly? 

Yes. Beginning with the new membership year, ASID will offer a monthly payment option. 
Monthly payments will replace the current quarterly payment option. 
Your renewal communication will provide details about your available payment options. 

What happens to my current quarterly payment plan? 

Beginning with the new membership year, quarterly payment options will no longer be available. 
Monthly payments will replace the current quarterly payment option. 
If you currently participate in a quarterly payment plan, your renewal communication will provide information about how your payment arrangement will transition. 

Can I use Auto-Pay? 

Yes.  Members may choose automatic renewal to make maintaining their membership easier.  
Members who pay their annual dues in full, enroll in Auto-Renewal, and meet the applicable requirements may receive a 5% discount on membership dues.  
To enroll in Auto-Renewal, enable Auto-Pay and keep a valid credit card on file. Use promo code AUTORENEWAL when enrolling.

What happens if I am already enrolled in Auto-Pay? 

If you currently use automatic payments, your renewal communication will provide information about how your payment arrangement will work under the new annual membership cycle. 
Please make sure your payment information is current before completing your renewal. 

What If I Am a Student or Emerging Professional? 

I'm a Student or Emerging Professional. Does the transition affect me differently? 

The October 1–September 30 membership cycle applies to all individual membership categories not covered by an Industry Partner or Organization. 
Your transition will be based on your current membership status and term. 
Your personalized renewal communication will provide the specific information that applies to you. 

What happens if I transition from Student to Emerging Professional? 

Your membership category and eligibility will continue to be handled according to ASID's established membership policies.

What If I Am an Industry Partner or Organizational Member? 

Does the transition affect Industry Partners or Organizational Members differently?

What If I Am a Professional Lifetime Member? 

Does the new membership cycle affect Professional Lifetime Members? 

No. Professional Lifetime Membership is not changing. 
There is no cost for Professional Lifetime Membership, and no dues or transition payment are required. 
Professional Lifetime Members do not need to take any action for this transition. ASID will handle the transition internally. 
Your Professional Lifetime Member status, benefits, chapter affiliation, programs, services, and access to member resources will remain unchanged. 

What If I Am Joining ASID? 

Can I join ASID at any time? 

Yes. You can join ASID at any time. 
Beginning October 1, 2026, new memberships will be established within the October 1–September 30 annual membership cycle. Initial membership dues may be prorated based on the date you join to reflect the remaining portion of the membership year. 
Your membership information will explain your membership term, dues, and renewal date. 

Should I wait until October 1 to join ASID? 

No. You can join ASID at any time. 
If you join before October 1, your membership will be handled according to the transition rules applicable to your membership start date. 
You will not be charged twice for the same membership period.

ASID selected an October 1–September 30 membership year to align with ASID’s fiscal year. This alignment will support a more consistent and streamlined membership experience, including communications, renewal processes, and planning throughout the year. 
Today, memberships renew based on individual anniversary dates. Moving to an October 1–September 30 cycle establishes one consistent membership cycle for all members and creates a more predictable renewal experience. 

What are the benefits of having one annual renewal cycle? 

A shared membership cycle creates a simpler and more predictable renewal experience for members. 
It also allows ASID to provide more consistent communications about membership benefits, programs, events, and opportunities throughout the year. 

Is this change about increasing membership dues? 

No. The transition to one annual membership cycle does not increase ASID membership dues. 
Any difference in your transition renewal amount is related to aligning your current membership term with the new October 1–September 30 annual membership cycle. 

What Happens After the Transition? 

What will my membership cycle be going forward? 

After the transition, the ASID membership year will run: October 1 through September 30. 
Future annual renewals will follow this same cycle. 

Will I have to go through another transition? 

No. The 2026 transition is a one-time process to move memberships from individual anniversary dates to the shared October 1–September 30 annual cycle. 
After the transition, members will follow the standard annual membership cycle. 

What happens if my membership expires or lapses? 

If your membership expires or lapses, the ASID Membership Team can assist you with the steps to renew or reinstate your membership.

2. Review your membership information. 
3. Review your personalized renewal amount and membership term. 
4. Select your available payment option.

Do I need to calculate my transition amount? 

No. ASID will calculate your personalized transition amount, if applicable. 
Your renewal communication will show the amount applicable to your membership.
