ASID Approved Continuing Education Units

Continuing education should be relevant to interior design and in the form of courses and presentations from registered IDCEC providers, self-reported courses and presentations, or college and university courses. Coursework taken by the following providers will be accepted:

IDCEC Approved Education

ASID automatically accepts continuing education approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC).

State Regulatory Board Approved Courses

ASID automatically accepts continuing education approved by State Regulatory Boards. Refer to courses offered by your local jurisdiction for more information.

Note: Continuing education requirements for State Regulatory Boards vary. Check with your jurisdiction for requirements. Your ASID chapter may also be a resource for local options and requirements.

Courses Approved by Industry Relevant Organizations

ASID automatically accepts continuing education approved by the following industry relevant organizations:

  • American Institute of Architects (AIA)
  • Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI)
  • International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
  • National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA)

Higher Education Courses

ASID accepts courses in interior design taken at college or university programs accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). ASID will approve .1 CEU (1 hour) per credit hour earned (not the actual hours you spend in class).

The coursework cannot be taken for college credit towards a degree program.

Courses by other providers

Completed programs offered by other providers must be submitted to ASID for review prior to receiving credit. Once a program has been taken, complete the ASID Self-Reporting Submission Form and submit payment of $25 USD via email to education@asid.org or mail to ASID headquarters

You will be notified of course approval or disapproval within approximately 20 business days of receipt. Approval is based on information received and reviewed and is valid toward your ASID education membership requirement. All such decisions are final.
