ASID ANNOUNCES FALL 2019 SCALEX PROGRAM

Regional Opportunities for Design Students Offer Invaluable Industry Insight, Lay the Groundwork for Future Career Successes

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), in partnership with Humanscale, has announced the 2019 program for SCALEX, a series of day-long events tailored to undergraduate design students. Held at a variety of schools throughout the months of October and November, SCALEX offers students and educators alike the chance to hear from design experts on relevant topics, participate in innovative discussions with top panels, and explore real-life scenarios to better prepare undergrads for professional practice. Developed to complement SCALE: The ASID National Student Summit, SCALEX is a full day event designed to bring innovation and immersion directly to local student communities. SCALEX has been presented in partnership with Humanscale since its inception in 2018, and the company’s participation has been invaluable in the development and facilitation of the program.

Explains Randy Fiser, Hon. FASID, ASID CEO, “Nurturing the next generation of design leaders is a top priority for ASID. By complementing the rich content of SCALE through SCALEX, we are able to serve a broad range of design students nationwide. We’re thrilled to engage with these talented young minds and work with them to showcase the many ways design impacts lives.”

SCALEX features industry experts who provide a deeper dive into the topics students are studying in class. Over the course of the day, SCALEX faculty and Society leaders harness real-life scenarios and provide expert-led panels to offer the utmost preparation for what a career in design really takes. These courses include keynotes, goal-setting, supplier and manufacturer briefings, career path roundtables, and portfolio feedback. After attending, students are equipped with resources they can take with them throughout their professional careers, and educators are able to explore relevant topics to augment and expand their curricula.

2019 SCALEX Sessions include:

October 11, 2019 New York School of Interior Design, New York
October 18, 2019 Columbia College, Chicago
October 25 - 26, 2019 University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas
October 30, 2019 Arizona State University, Phoenix
November 5, 2019 University of North Carolina Greensboro, Greensboro, North Carolina
