Dear ASID Members,
I am honored to step into the role of Chair for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) as we embark on an exciting journey together. With the new fiscal year underway and ASID’s 50th Anniversary just on the horizon in 2025, there’s no better time to celebrate the remarkable strides we’ve made and the incredible opportunities that lie ahead.
Celebrating Our 2024 Achievements
This past year, we accomplished so much together, strengthening our chapters, advancing education, and fostering greater engagement across the design community. Highlights include:
- Empowering Chapters: We increased participation in leadership training and have seen greater networking among chapter administrators through Town Hall meetings. Streamlined operations and technology investments have built capacity and resources across the country, ensuring every chapter has the tools to thrive.
- Elevating Education: From expanding our NCIDQ Exam Prep to launching our new virtual community Design Connection by ASID, and offering more on-demand CEU’s- we’ve delivered impactful resources that serve your professional growth.
- Advocacy Wins: ASID achieved historic practice rights victories in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, while successfully opposing harmful legislation elsewhere. Our Capitol Day event in Washington DC allowed ASID members to discuss how designers and legislators can collaborate to protect building occupants, increase access, and promote sustainable and health conscious design of buildings. Your voice and our collective advocacy have proven to be powerful forces for positive change.
- GATHER Catalyst: Our leadership conference in Denver brought nearly 500 professionals together, showcasing the energy and innovation that drive our organization forward. Our session video recording package engaged even more ASID members who were not in attendance or who missed sessions while attending the conference. This innovation paid for itself while offering even more benefit to our members.
- Visibility in Bold: Even as ASID dominated the news cycle in the design community, in 2024, ASID was also front and center in outlets like Forbes and the Wall Street Journal—underscoring our commitment to showcase design beyond industry circles. In total, ASID’s media relations efforts garnered nearly 3,500 published articles in 2024, providing an ad value of almost $222 million. In addition to headquarters and Board leadership, we featured an expanded group of voices, including ASID NY member Nikita Madhyani and former ASID TX Chapter President Veronica Sanders – offering important perspectives across all practices of interior design and positioning ASID as thought leaders in design and business.
Looking Ahead to Our 50th Anniversary
As we approach ASID’s milestone 50th Anniversary in 2025, we will honor our legacy of shaping the interior design profession as we chart a bold path for the future. Our plans include:
- GATHER, The ASID 2025 National Conference, a groundbreaking event set to unite design leaders and celebrate five decades of impact.
- Expanding programs, educational opportunities, and tools that empower you, our valued members, to succeed in an evolving design landscape.
- Strengthening our community, fostering connection, and amplifying the value of interior design for all.
We are a community built on creativity, collaboration, and care.
Thank you to all of you who have shared your stories and ideas. Your passion and commitment to our profession drive us forward and inspire innovation. I look forward to all we’ll accomplish together this year and to celebrating 50 years of design excellence with each of you in 2025.
As we step into this celebratory season, I invite you to stay engaged, share your voice, and help us begin to write the next 50 years of ASID’s story.
With gratitude and excitement,
David Euscher, ASID
