Dear Members,
I am filled with a mix of gratitude and excitement as I write this final letter. It has been an incredible journey serving as your Chair of the ASID National Board of Directors. I want to take this opportunity to welcome David Euscher, who will be stepping into the role of Chair on October 1. David brings a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives, and I am confident that he, along with the National board members, will continue to elevate our organization and serve you with dedication and passion.
Reflecting on our recent GATHER: Catalyst conference in Denver, CO, I am reminded of the power of connection and collaboration. This year’s theme—fostering resilience and innovation in design—resonated deeply with all who attended. The energy in each of the rooms was palpable as we shared ideas, networked, and engaged in meaningful discussions about the future of our profession. From thought-provoking panels to hands-on workshops, the conference was a testament to our organization’s commitment to growth and excellence in design.
Our recent ASID Capitol Day was equally exciting as a group of members spent our day in Washington, D.C., advocating for our profession on a national level. The conversations had with legislators and their teams were vital in raising awareness about the importance of interior design and the need for policies that support our profession. Together, we are making strides in promoting our collective voice, and I encourage each of you to stay engaged in these efforts. Your participation matters.
As I step into the role of Past-Chair, I cannot help but look forward to what lies ahead for ASID, especially as we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2025. This milestone offers us a unique opportunity to reflect on our rich history and the progress we have made as a profession. We will celebrate our accomplishments while also looking to the future—where we will continue to innovate, inspire, and advocate for the transformative power of design.
In the coming months, I urge you to stay tuned for updates and initiatives leading up to this significant celebration. There will be ample opportunities for all of us to contribute and share in the excitement. I am thrilled to see how ASID will continue to grow and adapt, and I invite each of you to be part of this journey.
I also want to remind you about the resources available through ASID, such as the recently released ASID Economic Outlook Report and the forthcoming Impact of Design brief on Extreme Heat, the next piece in our collaboration with the Chemical Insights Research Institute, ASID Affiliate Partner. These valuable tools equip you with insights that can help navigate the ever-changing landscape of our industry. Be sure to check out the latest news and updates on our website and social media channels, including our Instagram page, where we showcase the amazing work and initiatives of our talented members.
As I conclude my time as Chair, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your support, engagement, and commitment to our shared mission. The work we do is vital, and it has been an honor to lead alongside such dedicated professionals. I look forward to witnessing the incredible things you will all accomplish in the years to come- under David’s leadership and beyond.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of this wonderful community. Here’s to a bright future for ASID and our profession!
Warmest regards,
John Cialone
