Overview
As a visual presentation of selected projects, the interior design portfolio showcases a designer’s thought process, technical skills, and design capabilities. A thoughtful portfolio sets an interior designer apart from their peers and tells a story. An interior designer begins the process of putting together a portfolio while a student and continues to refine the content throughout his or her career.

The ASID Student Portfolio Competition endeavors to generate the best collection of student design projects for review. Instead of requiring a single project for judging, ASID asks students to upload their entire portfolio for judging. Students will submit their portfolios, resume, and written statement to an online portal. The intent is to evaluate all aspects of a student’s work: the concept for how the student thinks; the content of the work submitted; and the context of the student’s record of achievement.

The submission portal will open in mid-November and submissions will be accepted until Jan. 19, 2016.

Submissions will be evaluated in a three part process. Finalists will be invited to attend an exclusive student portfolio track at LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit, hosted at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Feb. 26-28, 2016. Finalists will work with professionals to polish their resume, portfolio, and presentation skills, culminating in a presentation of their portfolios to a panel of judges in hopes of procuring a 2016 internship at Gensler or HKS Architects. The winner(s) of the competition will also have the opportunity to present their portfolios to LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit attendees.
