2016 ASID Student Portfolio Competition Winners Announced!

ASID is pleased to announce the winners of the Student Portfolio Competition. The portfolio competition generated the best collection of design projects from interior design students. Top student portfolios, judged in their entirety, were selected and the students were invited to attend an exclusive student portfolio track at LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit on Feb. 26 - 28, 2016. Student finalists met with a distinguished panel of judges to receive in person feedback and be considered for a summer 2016 internship at Gensler or HKS Architects. Winners were announced and presented their portfolio to LAUNCH attendees at the closing session.
 
One grand prize winner received a trip to Minneapolis to be honored at the annual ASID awards gala, Celebration, on July 16, 2016.

Trained as an architect, my career has followed my passion for interior design at firms in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Over the course of 18 years, I practiced design in hospitality, retail, and lighting before focusing my expertise on corporate workplace design. In 2011, I joined Gensler in the Workplace Studio and began working as the Senior Designer on The Coca-Cola Headquarters, the largest workplace project in the Southeast region. For the last year and a half, I have lead the team of up to 12 in different phases of design from concept to completion for this complex , five-building campus renovation. As the Design Experience leader for our studio, I strive to inspire, lead and mentor designers and to find those opportunities to be more collaborative and innovative in the design and delivery of our projects.

Grace Paul is a Vice President and the Southeast regional interior design practice leader for HKS.  She is focused on managing the project process while delivering innovative and thoughtful solutions that exceed client expectations. She is committed to realizing project goals through maximizing productivity, design excellence, and supporting an organization's / client's culture. Grace is a consummate leader and mentor who has focused her career on cultivating talented, interdisciplinary project teams.

 

Brooke Traeger-Tumsaroch, ASID
Design Director, AvroKO (Bangkok, Thailand)

An NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer and past President of the ASID Metro Washington Chapter, Brooke Tumsaroch serves as design director for AvroKO’s Bangkok office.  At AvroKO, she oversees 30+ designers focusing on Bespoke Hospitality projects.  While living abroad, she also manages her own design firm, BJT Design Studio, LLC. 

Tumsaroch previously served as Department Chair for the Corcoran College of Art and Design’s ID Program, and worked for seven years with ForrestPerkins’ D.C. office as a senior designer focusing on hospitality design. Tumsaroch holds an MFA in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a BFA in Art from the University of Iowa.
